who We Are
The Peace Building Development Consult (PBDC) was established to advocate for, develop and promote a deeper understanding of peace and reconciliation in our world. We started in 2004 as a research group that seeks to explore a wide range of conflict and peace related matters with specific reference to Africa and Africans in Diaspora. Our work started in Jeffrey’s bay, South Africa, and since then, we have developed ten main arms of operation to help achieve this vision

Welcome Message
From The Founder
Our society keeps changing in quite a rapid manner, bringing to bear new ideas, innovations, capacity, development and change. However, these changes also carry alongside negative trends that gradually metastasize if not quickly and adequately addressed. The challenges and opportunities we face today and in the years ahead require a new way of thinking and that entails additional skills. The need for peace, security and development in our broken world cannot be over emphasized. The pain and burden of memories of on-going, recent and past conflicts haunt and hamper normal life and progress, the financial crises, poverty and illiteracy are consistent cloaks in the wheel of the needed change.

The Peace Building Development Consult (PBDC) was established to advocate for, develop and promote a deeper understanding of peace, security and development in our world. We equip leaders to build peace through a process of personal change, inclusive dialogue, healing bad memories and historical conflict and team building. We also equip leaders with the right tools to promote peace and stability and development within the purview of human security.
By attending our programmes, you will:
- Become equipped to lead in a changing world
- Learn to anticipate emerging challenges
- Apply the tools needed to rethink geopolitics
- Contribute to building a resilient and peaceful world
- Gain lifetime access to a global network of diverse experts
- Understand the value of financial and human security
Our training offerings provide solutions to local and global challenges by combining the knowledge of leaders, insights of experts and experience of practitioners.
We call on all institutions and nations to be humble, repentant and take responsibility for naming crimes. We again call on institutions and individuals to be responsive to the eroding human security needs. Peace, security and development cannot be achieved without one’s persistent quest for truth and justice, understanding one’s own history, having the opportunity to share one’s narrative in a safe, respectful and trustworthy space, listen to the other parties and make the long and difficult journey to reconciliation and forgiveness.

Welcome Message
From The Chairman Board of Elders, PBDC
The Peace Building Building Development Consult (PBDC) started in 2004 as a research group that seeks to explore and teach multiple approaches to dealing with the wide range of peace related matters and leadership with specific reference to Africa. We have grown into different sphere of influence and partnerships across the globe exploring every means to advocate for a better universe.
The Board and management are pursuing a strategy to grow the firm by developing its capacity for an added value in our society. We have captured new interests in Finance, Budgeting, international trade, diplomacy and how it affects security. Thus, the Board and Management are determined to continue the process which started over two decades ago.
Our vision is to achieve a leading position in Peace and Security Consultancy in the world where ideas, research, innovations, peace, security and reconciliation are refined and tailored to fit extant and emerging human concerns. We urge all stakeholders and participants to key into our vision
I would like to thank my fellow board members and the executive team for their support in the last 21 years. The outlook is positive, the conditions are favorable and the firm is well positioned to continue to prosper in the future.
I look forward to the years ahead with confidence.
Thank you.

Our Vision
To inspire a vision of community where a commitment to peace, development, transcends competing identities and interests.
Our Mission
We equip leaders to build peace and trust in diverse communities through a process of personal change, inclusive dialogue, healing bad memories and historical conflict and team building.

Our Ten Arms of Operation
Research and Development
The Research and Development arm of PBDC produces original, context-specific analyses of current events across Africa. This unit develops evidence-based policy papers, concept notes, and articles that address critical socio-political and economic challenges. These resources are tailored to support both state and non-state actors, as well as to inform and educate the general public.
Healing of Memories
The Healing of Memories unit is dedicated to facilitating emotional and psychological restoration for individuals, communities, and nations. Rooted in the understanding that healing is essential for everyone—whether from harm done to us, harm we have caused, or our inaction, the unit creates safe spaces for reflection, reconciliation, and transformative dialogue.
Community Peace
This arm focuses on grassroots peacebuilding initiatives by engaging youth, adults, community leaders, government institutions, civil society organizations, and educational institutions. Its goal is to cultivate a culture of peace and healing within local communities through inclusive and participatory processes.
Training
The Training arm program envisions a society grounded in peace, justice, reconciliation, and development, where the values of nonviolence and shared security rise above identity politics and competing interests. PBSP provides participants with practical skills and theoretical foundations in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
Human Security
The Human Security arm addresses the intersection of peacebuilding and human development by promoting initiatives that enhance personal, community, and national security. It recognizes the link between human rights, good governance, and sustainable development as vital components of long-term peace and stability.
Non-Violent Politics
This arm promotes political engagement grounded in nonviolence. It trains politicians, political aspirants, and civic actors to adopt peaceful means in their pursuit of leadership positions. The unit seeks to shift the political culture toward one that values dialogue, inclusion, and democratic principles over coercion and conflict.
Mediation Training and Services
Through tailored training programs and professional mediation services, this arm builds capacity for effective dispute resolution. It equips individuals and institutions with practical tools for mediation, negotiation, and conflict de-escalation, in alignment with the values of the Peace Building Scholars Program (PBSP).
The Peace Table
Recognizing that conflict is an inherent part of human interaction, the Peace Table initiative provides a creative and informal platform for dialogue. By gathering disputing parties around a shared meal, it fosters mutual respect, reduces tension, and opens pathways to peaceful resolution in a culturally sensitive setting.
Post Conflict Reconstruction Programmes
This arm focuses on rebuilding societies affected by violent conflict. Its interventions aim to consolidate peace, restore governance structures, rehabilitate infrastructure, and support socio-economic recovery. The ultimate goal is to foster resilience and sustainable development in post-war communities.
Countering Violent Extremism
The CVE arm works to prevent radicalization and the spread of violent ideologies, particularly among youth. It promotes awareness and understanding of the drivers, typologies, and recruitment strategies of violent extremism in Nigeria. The unit designs proactive strategies for engagement, education, and empowerment to build community resilience against extremist narratives.
