LEADERSHIP COURSE IN SPORTS DIPLOMACY (LCSD)

As diplomacy evolves in the 21st century, Scholars and practitioners in international relations are reassessing how sports can address pressing issues like violent conflict, climate change, gender inequality, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

It’s important that we fully embrace sports and its participants as a potent instrument for uniting individuals, communities, and nations, instigating transformative change and elevate global living standards, with athletes acting as influential advocates for inclusion, youth empowerment, health, wellness, and conflict resolution.

Consequently The Nigeria Institute of International Affairs and the Peace Building development Consult is hosting a 3-day Leadership Course in Sports Diplomacy (LCSD) to create a platform for;

·    Promoting international cooperation,

·    Promote Peace and Conflict Resolution

·   Cultural exchange, and positive social change

·   Contributing to broader diplomatic objectives and societal development through sports.

Objectives

Participants would have gained a deeper understanding of the role of Sports Diplomacy in addressing global challenges and promoting international cooperation.

Youth leaders and athletes will be inspired and empowered to act and contribute to Sports Diplomacy efforts in their communities and beyond.

Participants establish new connections and partnerships, foster collaboration, and synergies to advance Sports Diplomacy initiatives.

Insights and recommendations generated will inform policy development and advocacy efforts aimed at leveraging Sports Diplomacy for positive diplomatic outcomes.

The course will leave a lasting legacy by promoting awareness, engagement, and action on Sports Diplomacy issues, contributing to a more peaceful and connected world.
