Elevate Your International Career with the Upcoming UN Immersion Programme!

 

The National Institute for International Affairs (NIIA) in Nigeria is partnering with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to host a comprehensive course. This program is designed to offer participants a balanced mix of UN-related expert lectures, training workshops, guided tours, career development sessions, and group projects. The course includes both foundational content applicable to all field visits and location-specific content, with a focus on Geneva, Switzerland.


Location: Switzerland - Geneva

Geneva, home to 35 international organizations and more than 250 NGOs, provides a rich environment for formative experiences. The activities will be held at the historic Palace of Nations, with a focus on a balanced mix of:

  • Expert Lectures: UNITAR’s connections in International Geneva facilitate 1-2-hour expert briefings, allowing participants to learn directly from experienced policy practitioners from various UN agencies and permanent missions.
  • Guided Tours: Visits to significant international buildings and facilities in Geneva.
  • Multilateral Conferences: Attendance at UN conferences to observe multilateral negotiations.
  • Career Development: Sessions on professional development, including CV writing and interview preparation.
  • Group Projects: Collaborative activities, such as presentations and simulations, related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Cultural Activities: Events to experience Swiss culture and enjoy Geneva’s attractions.

Each activity is aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills for effective work in a multilateral environment.


The UN Immersion Programme is intended for a diverse range of participants, including:

  • Diplomats or other government officials
  • University students
  • Young aspiring international actors

Program Details:

  • Duration: One week, full day immersion program.
  • Participants: A minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 participants.
  • Certificates: At the end of the program, participants will receive:
    • UNITAR Certificate of Completion
    • NIIA Certificate of Completion
    • NIIA Membership Award
  • Course Fee: $5,200 per participant. This fee covers tuition, accommodation, and meals (tea break & lunch) in a 5-star hotel, a study tour, course materials, and a diplomatic visa.
